Oliver Burch, Thursday 16th November, Afternoon
After a warm welcome and speech by the island council of Isdhoo, we were provided with some tasty snacks. However, just at the moment we start eating, a storm collides with the island. As the heavy rains becomes a bit weaker, we dare to leave our shelter and swarm towards the islands 325 year old mosque. The carefully carved wooden structure placed on top of coral stone walls and columns could do nothing but amaze our architect hearts. We continue our tour and visit the remnants of a Buddhist temple which dates back to pre-islamic times. We then hop on our lorries to drive back to Kalaidhoo, when the storm hits again. After a 20-minutes ride to the other end of the Island, we arrive soaking wet at the jetty port. The extreme weather conditions keep us stranded for another 30 minutes on the boats. When the storm calms down a bit, we headed back towards Gan. Finally, we arrived soaked and shaken but at least safely at the jetty port on Gan.
