The Maldives Journal, Day 1: AMS to MLE

Yesterday we started our trip to the Maldives from Schiphol Airport. After around 11 hours in the air we arrived and were transferred to our hotel in Hulhumalé.

After checking in at the hotel we were able to rest for a brief moment before heading straight to Malé to meet with our United Nations contacts, Azaf , Mauroof and Shaha. In Malé they gave us a city tour as the sun began to set. We were treated to a view of the largest mosque in Malé and the chance to get a feel for the rhythm of the city. It was clear at this stage how densely populated this city was, with thousands of mopeds either lining the streets or weaving by. We finished our day with a nice dinner and headed back to the hotel. Looking forward to tomorrows action packed day.
